U2 Pay Tribute to Ramones at MTV Awards

7 Sep 2001
U2 were presented with the 2001 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award in New York last night - and took the opportunity to pay tribute to The Ramones.

Performing a rapturously received short set of Elevation and Stuck In A Moment, the band invited members of The Ramones on stage in accepting the award.

During the Elevation world tour Bono has been dedicating In A Little While to Joey Ramone, who died in a New York hospital earlier this year.

The video for the hit 'Lady Marmalade' - featuring Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya, Pink and Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott - won the top honor at the 18th annual MTV awards, pipping U2, Eminem and Janet Jackson.
